And Untamed Travel was founded in 2020 with one clear purpose: to share Africa’s untamed destinations with travelers and adventure seekers. From the start, we’ve focused on taking clients to places with less tourist traffic — destinations that are more charming, authentic, and full of discovery.
Our experience in the industry has given us deep knowledge across Southern and Eastern Africa. Today, we design guided journeys not only in South Africa’s Garden Route and safari reserves, but also in Namibia’s desert landscapes, Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Zimbabwe’s iconic Victoria Falls, and the great migration routes of Kenya and Tanzania.
Every trip is led by trusted guides and drivers, shaped around small groups, and built on immersive experiences — whether it’s a wildlife safari, a wine tour in the Cape Winelands, a cultural city exploration, or a coastal adventure. We believe travel should feel personal, flexible, and unforgettable.
Each destination below is run by our own in-country partners. Slide through the images, check the best time to travel, and see what makes each place worth the flight.
Where we started and where we know every back road. Cape Town and the Winelands, the full Garden Route coastline, Addo and Kruger for wildlife, and the Drakensberg for hikers. It is the easiest introduction to Africa and still the most varied.
Vast, quiet and unlike anywhere else on earth. Climb the dunes at Sossusvlei before sunrise, drive the Skeleton Coast, and spend evenings under some of the darkest skies in the southern hemisphere. Etosha delivers exceptional wildlife with far fewer vehicles than Kruger.
The Okavango Delta is the finest wildlife destination in Africa and we say that without hesitation. Glide through reed channels by mokoro, camp on an island with elephants passing through, then head north to the Chobe River where the buffalo and elephant herds number in the thousands.
Home to Victoria Falls — the smoke that thunders — and to Hwange National Park, one of the largest elephant sanctuaries in Africa. Add a Zambezi sunset cruise, white-water rafting below the falls, and the warmest welcome you'll get anywhere on the continent.
A world apart. Around 90% of Madagascar's wildlife exists nowhere else on earth — lemurs, chameleons, baobabs and rainforest birds. Pair the Avenue of the Baobabs with a lemur trek in Andasibe and finish on the beaches of Nosy Be.
The Maasai Mara is the stage for the Great Migration, when over a million wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River. Beyond the migration, Kenya offers Amboseli's elephants beneath Kilimanjaro, Laikipia's conservancies and rich Maasai culture.
The Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater together form the most complete safari experience in Africa. Add the snows of Kilimanjaro, chimpanzee trekking in Gombe, and the beaches of Zanzibar for a trip that covers wildlife, mountains and ocean in one itinerary.

Our flagship road trip along the full Garden Route. Coastal cliffs at Hermanus, the Knysna forests, ostrich country in Oudtshoorn and a private game reserve finale with the big five. Small groups of no more than ten travellers.
Four nights split between the Kruger National Park and the private Sabi Sand reserve, where off-road tracking and night drives are permitted. Ideal for photographers and first-time safari travellers who want the best possible sightings.
Botswana's delta and Zimbabwe's thundering falls in one overland journey. Mokoro canoe excursions, wild island camping, Chobe elephant herds and two nights at Victoria Falls with a Zambezi sunset cruise.
Follow the herds across the Kenya–Tanzania border during the peak migration months. River crossing vantage points, balloon safari over the Mara, and the Ngorongoro Crater floor where the wildlife density is unmatched anywhere in Africa.
Built for families with children aged six and up. Shorter driving days, hands-on stops at ostrich farms and caves, a lagoon paddle in Knysna and a malaria-free big five finale at Addo Elephant National Park.

We had a fabulous day wine tasting in the Stellenbosch / Franschhoek area. Melusi was our driver for the day in a tidy, comfortable Hyundai. He was a safe driver, a good communicator and a nice guy. This worked perfectly for us — Melusi was not a tour guide for us but rather a punctual, reliable, sober driver to get us around. We worked out which wineries we wanted to visit and Melusi got us there. It was a magic day and Melusi was very easy to work with. Would recommend the service if you are looking for a chauffeur drive rather than a tour. Thanks Melusi!
We had a fantastic experience with Costa today! He was an excellent driver: professional, friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout the day. He listened carefully to all our requests and was always happy to adapt to what we wanted to do. His excellent knowledge of the region was also a real advantage, and we felt completely comfortable and well looked after from start to finish. A very reliable and genuinely kind driver. We would definitely recommend Costa and would be very happy to travel with him again!
Great! Totally worth the private chauffeur to see everything we wanted at our own pace.
Alles prima geklappt. Das besuchte Weingut war erstklassig und die Pinguine in Betty's Bay ein Traum. Deutlich weniger Personen als am Boulder's Beach.
Loved the West Coast San centre. Food was excellent. Would have liked to stay there for the full day. This tour included two of the five activities and lunch. Wish we could have done all five.

Our signature route along South Africa's most beautiful coastline — from Cape Town's mountains and winelands to the forests of Knysna and the beaches of Plettenberg Bay.
Eight unhurried days from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, travelling the full Garden Route with your own driver-guide. You'll see the Cape Winelands, the whale coast at Hermanus, the penguins at Boulders Beach, the Knysna forests and the Tsitsikamma coastline — with time to actually stop and enjoy each place.
Open-vehicle game drives in the Kruger National Park and the private Sabi Sand reserve, where the sightings are close and the rangers know the bush.
Five days built entirely around wildlife. Two nights in the Kruger National Park and two nights in the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve, with morning and evening game drives every day and the chance of leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino.
Glide the Okavango Delta by mokoro, camp on an island with elephants passing through, then finish at the smoke that thunders.
Nine days across two of Africa's greatest natural spectacles. The Okavango Delta is the finest wildlife destination on the continent, and Victoria Falls is the largest sheet of falling water in the world. We travel between them overland, with the Chobe River and its elephant herds in between.
Follow the Great Migration across the Mara River and the Serengeti plains, with the Ngorongoro Crater as the finale.
Ten days across the two most famous wildlife ecosystems in the world. We start in Kenya's Maasai Mara for the river crossings, cross into Tanzania for the Serengeti, and finish inside the Ngorongoro Crater — a natural amphitheatre packed with wildlife.
A relaxed, child-friendly route with beaches, penguins, elephants and plenty of space to run.
Seven days designed around families. Shorter driving days, accommodation with pools, and activities that work for all ages — penguins at Boulders Beach, the Knysna lagoon, and a full day in Addo Elephant National Park where the elephants come close.
A private vehicle and driver-guide for the day, built entirely around what you want to see.
Some days you just want the car and the driver. Our private chauffeur service gives you a vehicle and a local guide for a full day, with an itinerary you set yourself — the Winelands, Cape Point, the city, or a mix of all three.
